What it does

When installed, the agent treats a pile of GitHub issues as symptoms of a few underlying architectural defects. It reads issues and their comments in full, groups them into clusters, opens one 'plan master' issue per cluster with a design doc, redirects duplicate issues to the master with a standard comment, and can prepare a single pull request that closes all children of a cluster. It also routes newly filed bugs into existing plans instead of opening new issues.

Great for

  • Maintainers of a repository with 20+ open issues that overlap or look like duplicates
  • Teams that want a roadmap built from an issue tracker rather than one-by-one fixes
  • Anyone who wants a consistent process for routing new bug reports into existing work

Skip it if

  • Repositories with fewer than about 15 open issues, where the skill itself says to just close them
  • Projects with genuinely independent bugs, since clustering would be forced and misleading
  • Repos without a plans/ design-doc practice, unless the user first agrees to introduce one; the skill says to propose before imposing it

Try asking

  • “Triage the open issues in this repo and cluster them by root cause into plan masters”
  • “A new bug was just filed; check whether it belongs to an existing plan and post a Round comment if so”
  • “Build a plan-03 slice PR that closes all child issues routed to that plan”
  • “Consolidate the backlog of duplicate installer failures into one architectural plan”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Oh My Issues TriageInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    oh-my-issues.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip oh-my-issues.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip oh-my-issues.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent full access to the issue list first; it relies on reading comment threads, not just titles, so review its proposed clusters before it closes anything.
  • Check the proposed master titles: they should name an architectural fix, and the skill notes a cluster is wrong if you cannot state its scope in one line.
  • Closing issues as 'not planned' and posting redirects is visible to the public, so confirm the cluster list with a maintainer before running Mode 1 on a live tracker.
