What it does
Once installed, the agent answers M&A questions using a structured framework covering both buying and being bought: strategic rationale, a due diligence checklist by domain, valuation approaches, negotiation points, and a 100-day integration plan. It also points you to sibling skills for legal term review, data diligence and quantitative valuation models, and reminds you to verify market multiples against current sources. It is a planning guide, not a source of live deal data.
Great for
- Founders preparing their company for a possible acquisition or planning a sale
- Executives or corp dev staff structuring an acquisition and needing a checklist
- Students or analysts learning how M&A due diligence and integration are organised
Skip it if
- Final legal, tax or financial decisions: the skill is qualitative and its valuation ranges are explicitly illustrative, so outside counsel and advisors are still required
- Looking up current transaction multiples or comparable deals: the skill does not fetch live market data and tells you to verify against external reports
Try asking
- “Use the ma-playbook skill to build a due diligence checklist for acquiring a 20-person SaaS company”
- “Help me prepare my startup for acquisition over the next 9 months using the M&A playbook”
- “Review our integration plan for the first 100 days after closing with the M&A playbook”
- “What negotiation points should I watch in an earnout using the ma-playbook?”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Pair it with the general-counsel-advisor and chief-data-officer-advisor skills, and install them too, since the playbook refers to their scripts for LOI and data checks; those scripts are separate and should be reviewed on their own.
- Treat the illustrative valuation ranges as starting points only and cross-check at least two of the external sources it names before using any number in a negotiation.
- Give the agent concrete facts about the deal (revenue, customer concentration, timeline) so it can apply the red-flag thresholds to your situation.
