What it does

When you type something like /loop 5m check the deploy, the agent registers a repeating scheduled job through a cron tool that re-runs your prompt every 5 minutes, converting intervals like 2h or every 20 minutes into standard cron timing. It also runs the prompt once right away so you see results without waiting for the first scheduled run. It tells you when it had to round an awkward interval (for example 7m becomes 6m) and gives you a job id to cancel later.

Great for

  • Developers who want to monitor something repeatedly, such as a deploy, PR status, or build
  • People who want an agent to periodically check or tidy a task without remembering to ask

Skip it if

  • One-off tasks, since this skill is designed only for recurring jobs and a plain request is simpler
  • Anything needing exact local-time scheduling, since cron fields here are UTC and daily jobs fire at midnight UTC, not your local midnight

Try asking

  • “/loop 5m /babysit-prs”
  • “/loop check the deploy every 20m”
  • “/loop /standup every 2 hours”
  • “/loop tidy inbox”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Recurring Prompt SchedulerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    loop.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip loop.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip loop.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Use specific prompts, since each scheduled run will execute the prompt again and may take actions
  • Cancel jobs with /loops cancel <id> when finished, because recurring jobs keep running until removed
  • Be aware that jobs are non-durable by default and only persist across sessions if you explicitly ask
