What it does
When you correct the agent or say something like "always do X" or "never do Y", this skill turns that correction into a short, imperative rule and stores it through a memory tool called memory_lesson_save. Rules that get repeated gain confidence, and unused ones fade over time. Before similar tasks later, the agent can recall these rules and apply them, so it makes the same mistake less often.
Great for
- Developers who keep correcting an AI coding agent on the same repo conventions or CI quirks
- Teams that want project-specific rules to persist across sessions
- Users of the agentmemory memory system who want behavioural lessons stored separately from facts
Skip it if
- Storing secrets or credentials: the skill tells the agent to keep them out, but saved lessons persist, so review what gets stored (reason: persistence risk)
- Setups without the agentmemory memory tools installed: the skill depends on memory_lesson_save and will not function without them (reason: missing dependency)
Try asking
- “"Learn this: always run vitest with --run in CI, watch mode hangs the pipeline."”
- “"Never do that again, we use pnpm not npm in this repo."”
- “"Remember this lesson for the deploy scripts: check the staging flag before running migrations."”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip lesson.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip lesson.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Phrase corrections as a rule with a consequence, for example "use X because Y breaks", so the saved lesson is actionable.
- Check the echoed-back rule before confirming, since a bad distillation will be recalled later.
- Use the forget capability (memory_lesson_delete) to remove any lesson saved in error.
