What it does

Once installed, the agent can operate a command-line tool called cli-anything-openscreen to turn raw screen captures into polished demo videos. It can add zoom effects, speed up idle sections, cut out parts, crop the frame, add text annotations, set backgrounds and aspect ratios, and render the final video with ffmpeg. It also keeps an undo/redo history and can produce preview bundles (frames and a short clip) so it can check its own edits.

Great for

  • Creators who want to turn screen recordings into product or tutorial demos without a manual video editor
  • Developers or agents that need scripted, repeatable video edits of recordings
  • Marketers producing short feature demos from existing captures

Skip it if

  • Recording the screen itself: the skill edits existing video files and does not capture screens (reason: no capture commands are listed).
  • Anyone needing a graphical editor or live editing: the workflow is command-line and static preview based (reason: the SKILL.md describes preview as static rather than live).
  • Editing files you have not backed up: the tool writes project and output files to disk (reason: project and render commands write files, so originals should be kept safe).

Try asking

  • “Create a new Openscreen project from recording.mp4 and add a zoom at 2000 to 4000 ms on the center of the screen”
  • “Trim the first 5 seconds and speed up the idle section between 10000 and 20000 ms to 2.0x”
  • “Add a text annotation saying 'Click here' at the top-left of the video and render an MP4 export”
  • “Make a quick low-res preview bundle and check the zoom and trim timing before the final render”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    skills.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip skills.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip skills.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Always pass --json so the agent can parse results, and verify the rendered file exists and probe it afterwards.
  • Use absolute file paths and remember that all region times are in milliseconds while coordinates are normalized from 0 to 1.
  • Keep a copy of the original recording, since trim, crop and export operations modify projects and produce new files.
