What it does
This skill gives an AI agent a playbook for Google Workspace administration using the open-source gws command-line tool. Once installed, the agent can guide you through installing and signing in to gws, run helper scripts that check your setup, and draft or run commands to send email, search Gmail, manage Drive files and sharing, read or write Sheets, and schedule Calendar events. It also includes a local catalog of recipe templates and a script that audits Workspace settings.
Great for
- Admins who manage Google Workspace accounts and want help scripting routine tasks
- Developers setting up the gws CLI and OAuth credentials for automation
- Operations staff who repeat the same Gmail, Drive or Calendar chores
Skip it if
- Anyone who wants a fully hands-off tool: many commands are marked for verification because the CLI is pre-v1.0 and generates commands at runtime, so they must be checked before running (risk of wrong or destructive actions)
- Users handling sensitive mailboxes or organisation-wide sharing without review, since bulk archive and permission commands can change real data
- Non-technical users without access to a terminal or Google Cloud project, since setup requires OAuth credentials
Try asking
- “Check whether my gws install and login are working”
- “Search my Gmail for messages from a client since January and summarise them”
- “Create a Google Sheet called Budget 2026 and append a row to it”
- “Share a Drive file with a colleague as editor after showing me the command first”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Ask the agent to run --help or schema checks before any write, send, or sharing command, and review the dry-run output
- Request only the OAuth scopes you need (for example gws auth login -s drive, gmail) and keep credentials files out of shared folders
- Treat exported credentials.json as a secret and do not paste tokens into chat
