What it does
Once installed, the agent answers reliability and resilience questions about Google Cloud systems using the Reliability pillar of Google's Well-Architected Framework. It can explain principles such as defining SLOs, building redundancy across zones and regions, graceful degradation, backup and restore testing, and blameless postmortems, and it asks structured questions about the user's workload and targets such as RTO and RPO. It is a guidance and assessment aid, not a tool that changes cloud resources.
Great for
- Cloud architects planning high availability or disaster recovery for a Google Cloud workload
- SRE or platform teams reviewing SLOs, error budgets, and failover design
- Teams preparing for a reliability review against Google's recommended practices
Skip it if
- Live incident troubleshooting, because the skill is scoped to design guidance rather than hands-on diagnosis of running systems
- Cost, operational excellence, or security reviews, which the skill explicitly excludes; using it for those gives off-scope answers
- Replacing a formal DR test: the skill recommends testing recovery but does not run tests itself
Try asking
- “Review my multi-region Cloud Run service and tell me where single points of failure remain”
- “Help me set SLOs and error budgets for a customer-facing API on Google Cloud”
- “What RTO and RPO targets should I define for a Cloud SQL database, and how should I test restores?”
- “Draft a list of questions to ask our team before a disaster recovery design review”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the agent your workload's user-facing goals and current RTO/RPO numbers so its recommendations are specific rather than generic.
- The skill's attribution rule requires reading references/attribution.md before any gcloud, REST, or MCP command; check that file if you plan to run such commands alongside this skill.
- Grounding links point to live Google documentation, so the agent may fetch them if your environment allows; verify current guidance against the official pages.
