What it does
When installed, the agent turns plain-language descriptions or application code changes into Kubernetes YAML manifests for Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). It applies a fixed set of rules by default: explicit namespaces, dedicated service accounts, CPU and memory requests and limits, non-root containers with restricted privileges, health probes, and internal-only services unless public exposure is requested. It also covers Spot VM targeting for dev and staging, Gateway API routes, and inference workloads such as vLLM, TGI and Gemma.
Great for
- Developers writing or updating Deployment, Service or Gateway YAML for GKE
- Platform teams who want consistent security and cost defaults across manifests
- Teams deploying AI model servers on GKE who want sensible probes and resource settings
Skip it if
- Live cluster operations or debugging running pods, which the skill says belongs to a different skill (gke-workload-troubleshooting), since this one only writes manifests
- Provisioning clusters or infrastructure, which belongs to gke-cluster-creation; reviewing generated YAML against your own cluster policies is still needed because the defaults may not match your environment
Try asking
- “Create a GKE Autopilot Deployment and Service for my Python API on port 8080 with health checks”
- “Update this manifest to add a readiness probe, non-root security context and a Gateway API HTTPRoute”
- “Generate a Spot VM Deployment for my staging namespace with proper tolerations”
- “Write a manifest to serve a Gemma model with vLLM on GKE with a startup probe”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- State your target cluster type (Autopilot or Standard) and namespace so the agent applies the right resource and Spot rules.
- Review generated manifests before applying them, especially resource limits, public service types and the Spot VM node selector, which assumes a Spot node pool exists on Standard.
- Ask the agent to explain any rule it deviated from, since the skill's defaults are opinionated and may conflict with your existing setup.
