What it does

This skill gives the AI agent the mindset and reference knowledge of a senior Google Cloud architect. Once installed, when you ask about cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud, the agent prefers managed services, suggests least-privilege IAM and service accounts, recommends labelling and audit logging, and offers gcloud commands for tasks like deploying to Cloud Run, creating GKE clusters, or setting billing budgets. It is guidance only: it contains no scripts and does not connect to Google Cloud itself.

Great for

  • Developers setting up or reviewing a Google Cloud project for the first time
  • Teams who want an agent to suggest secure, cost-aware gcloud commands and architecture patterns
  • People learning GKE, Cloud Run or Pub/Sub who want sensible defaults explained

Skip it if

  • Running live changes on a production account: the skill only gives advice and the agent still needs your credentials and gcloud access, so review every command before running it
  • Anyone expecting verified, up-to-date CLI syntax: the file is short and general, and flags or defaults may have changed since it was written
  • Users of other clouds (AWS, Azure) where the patterns and commands do not apply

Try asking

  • “Design a Cloud Run service backed by Cloud SQL with secure connections”
  • “Write gcloud commands to create a GKE cluster with autoscaling and Workload Identity”
  • “Review my Google Cloud IAM setup for least-privilege problems”
  • “Set up billing budget alerts and a Cloud Storage lifecycle policy for old logs”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    gcp.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip gcp.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip gcp.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Name your project, region and environment up front so the agent tailors commands rather than using placeholders like PROJECT and us-central1
  • Ask the agent to explain each gcloud command before you run it, especially flags like --allow-unauthenticated that expose services publicly
  • Verify current syntax against the official Google Cloud documentation, since this skill does not check it
