What it does

When an analytical question depends on missing background, such as what a metric means, what changed recently, or which sources to trust, this skill makes the agent search the connected or provided sources first and return a short context note with citations, conflicts and gaps. It deliberately stops short of doing the analysis itself and hands off to other focused skills such as metric diagnostics or dashboard building when the request asks for them.

  • Analysts who need the right definitions and recent context before starting a metric investigation
  • Product or business teams checking which dashboard, owner note or decision document is the current source of truth
  • Anyone whose request mixes a question with a deliverable and needs the framing step separated out

Skip it if

  • Requests where the context is already in the prompt, since the skill itself says to skip it then
  • Broad background research or final reports, which the skill explicitly excludes; it can also expose sensitive internal data if connected sources are broad and the user is not careful about access
  • Setups without the connected data sources or a user-provided context, where the agent may guess at definitions
