What it does

This skill teaches an AI coding agent to build complete agent solutions on Microsoft Foundry and Azure. It can either quickly prototype an agent inside an existing Foundry project, or run a spec-driven workflow that specifies, implements, verifies and deploys a new project with azd. It also keeps a locked mode note in AGENTS.md so later commands follow the chosen approach. The skill delegates platform operations to a separate microsoft-foundry skill and can install helper extensions or plugins after asking for approval.

Great for

  • Developers building a hosted agent with a React or FastAPI app on Azure Container Apps
  • Teams who want a spec-driven, azd-based deployment pipeline for a new Foundry project
  • Developers who already have a Foundry project and want a fast prototype

Skip it if

  • Simple Azure administration tasks, which the skill says it is not meant for (outside scope)
  • Apps that show private or sensitive data deployed with anonymous access, because the skill requires explicit approval for that and the risk is high if skipped
  • People without Azure subscriptions or Foundry access, since the deployment steps cannot succeed

Try asking

  • “Build a rapid prototype agent in my existing Foundry project”
  • “Create a spec-driven agent solution and deploy it to Azure with azd”
  • “Improve this agent skill using results from past runs”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Foundry Agentic LoopInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    foundry-agentic-loop.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip foundry-agentic-loop.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip foundry-agentic-loop.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Choose the mode explicitly (rapid or SDD) so the agent does not have to guess and can lock it into AGENTS.md
  • Review the deployment plan and access model before deploying, especially if the app shows any non-public data
  • Keep Azure settings in .azure/deployment-plan.md rather than AGENTS.md, as the skill intends
