What it does

When installed, the agent can help you create or apply a policy file for AgentRC, a readiness-scoring tool. A policy is a small JSON file that turns off checks you don't need, raises the importance of checks you care about, and sets a minimum pass rate. The skill walks you through choosing these settings, suggests built-in starter policies (strict, AI-only, repo-health-only), and can run AgentRC with your policy so the report reflects it. It also shows how to gate CI builds on a maturity level.

Great for

  • Engineering leads standardising readiness checks across several repositories
  • Teams that want to skip irrelevant checks, such as observability for a static site
  • Maintainers who need a CI step that fails when a repo falls below a set maturity level

Skip it if

  • People who simply want a one-off readiness report with default settings, since no policy is needed for that
  • Anyone expecting custom detection logic: policies can only disable or re-weight existing criteria, and new checks require writing TypeScript plugins
  • Teams who might quietly disable important checks to pass a gate, which hides real gaps from reviewers

Try asking

  • “Show me which readiness policies are currently in effect for this repo.”
  • “Create a new policy called strict-frontend that disables observability and raises the readme check to high impact.”
  • “Apply ./org-baseline.json and ./team-frontend.json together and re-render the readiness report.”
  • “Add a CI step that fails the build if readiness is below level 3 using the strict policy.”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    acreadiness-policy.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip acreadiness-policy.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip acreadiness-policy.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Start from strict.json, ai-only.json or repo-health-only.json rather than writing a policy from scratch.
  • Override a check's impact instead of disabling it, so the gap still appears in the report.
  • Keep a shared org baseline policy and chain per-team overrides with a comma-separated --policy list.
