What it does
Once installed, the agent can take a JSON file listing your AI agents (name, description, system instructions) and register them on the Azure AI Foundry service through its REST API, so they become live and callable in your Azure account. It can also scaffold the manifest and a PowerShell or Bash sync script, and walk you through the Azure CLI login and parameters needed. It registers agents on Azure's servers rather than only generating local code.
Great for
- Developers already using Azure AI Foundry who want agent definitions kept in source control and pushed to the service
- Teams deploying AI agents through Bicep or CI pipelines with a managed identity
- People who want repeatable, idempotent updates of agent instructions across environments
Skip it if
- Anyone without an Azure AI Foundry project and a deployed model, since the skill cannot create those for you and the sync will fail
- Users who only want local agent code or container scaffolding; the skill explicitly does not do that (use the microsoft-foundry create sub-skill instead)
- Situations where changes to live agent instructions must be reviewed first, since the script overwrites existing agents of the same name without a confirmation step
Try asking
- “Create agent in Foundry for my alert triage use case using the manifest in infra/foundry-agents.json”
- “Sync my Foundry agents to the dev project subscription abc-123”
- “Scaffold an agent manifest and sync script for this repository”
- “Update the instructions of my support agent and push it to Foundry”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Review the manifest and generated script before running, since the sync POSTs to live Azure resources and overwrites agents with the same name.
- Use a non-production Foundry project first to confirm the endpoint, model name and API version are correct.
- Keep the manifest in version control so agent instruction changes are reviewed like any other code change.
