What it does

Once installed, when you give the agent a prompt file (a text file of instructions meant for an AI), it reviews that file and tidies it up. It tightens the structure and wording, fixes spelling, grammar and clarity problems, and keeps the front matter and markdown formatting intact, all without changing what the instructions are meant to do. If you do not supply a prompt file, the agent asks you for one first.

Great for

  • Developers writing custom agent or prompt files who want a cleaner final version
  • Teams standardising prompt files so they read consistently
  • Anyone who wants a quick proofread and structure review of instructions for an AI

Skip it if

  • Tasks that need the prompt's behaviour changed or new features added, since the skill is limited to polishing without altering intent
  • Situations where you need verified or tested results: the skill relies on the model's general sense of 'best practices' with no test harness or evaluation
  • Prompts with legal, medical or safety-critical instructions that need expert review before use

Try asking

  • “Finalize this agent prompt file so it reads clearly for end users.”
  • “Proofread and tidy the structure of my prompt file without changing what it asks for.”
  • “Polish the wording of this .prompt.md file and keep its front matter intact.”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Finalize Agent PromptInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    finalize-agent-prompt.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip finalize-agent-prompt.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip finalize-agent-prompt.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Paste or attach the full prompt file, including its front matter, so the agent can preserve it.
  • Review the edited output against your original, since 'best practices' are a judgement call and may not match your intent.
  • State any wording or terminology that must stay exactly as written so it is not changed.
