What it does

When a Prisma maintainer cuts a release, this skill tells the AI agent how to build the public release-notes file. The agent finds the previous release tag, lists the merged pull requests since then, looks up unclear internal ticket titles for context, decides which changes users would care about, and writes categorized notes with breaking changes first. The agent must rewrite everything in its own public wording and must not copy internal ticket text. The notes file becomes the GitHub Release body.

Great for

  • Prisma maintainers or release engineers cutting a stable or release-candidate version
  • Contributors who want to see how the Prisma release-notes convention works

Skip it if

  • Ordinary users of Prisma who only want to read existing release notes (the skill is for authoring them, not reading them)
  • Dev or beta builds, which the skill says it should not be used for, because they create no GitHub Release

Try asking

  • “Draft the release notes for Prisma 8.0.0-rc.2 from the merged PRs since the last release”
  • “Write the changelog for this release and author docs/releases/v8.0.0.md”
  • “Summarize what shipped since the last release”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Draft Release NotesInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    draft-release-notes.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip draft-release-notes.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip draft-release-notes.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run it from the release worktree that publish-npm-version creates, with the target version already known.
  • Have a human review the draft against each linked PR, since the skill relies on that review for judgment calls.
  • Check that no ticket names, customer details or internal links leaked into the final notes.
