What it does

Once installed, the agent reviews the C# or .NET code you point it at (via the current selection) and checks how well it uses common design patterns such as Command, Factory, Dependency Injection, Repository and Provider. It also checks architecture, SOLID principles, async use, security and testability, then reports findings and concrete suggestions. It is explicitly told not to change any code, so the output is a written review only.

Great for

  • C#/.NET developers who want a second opinion on the structure of a solution or project
  • Teams preparing for a code review who want a checklist-driven pass before a human reviews it
  • Developers following the Command Handler and Dependency Injection conventions the skill describes

Skip it if

  • Non-.NET languages or projects, since the checklist is specific to C#/.NET (the review would be unreliable)
  • Anyone expecting automatic fixes: the skill forbids code changes, so you must apply suggestions yourself
  • Security audits as a substitute for specialist tooling: the security section is a general checklist, not a thorough vulnerability scan

Try asking

  • “Review the selected C# code for design pattern implementation and suggest improvements for the project”
  • “Check whether my Command Handler and Repository classes follow good dependency injection practice”
  • “Give me a SOLID principles review of the selected service classes without changing anything”
  • “Assess the async/await usage and testability of this .NET provider class”
Step-by-step guide: how to use .NET Design Pattern ReviewInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    dotnet-design-pattern-review.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip dotnet-design-pattern-review.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip dotnet-design-pattern-review.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Select the specific files or classes you want reviewed, since the skill reads the current selection rather than the whole repository
  • Ask for one focus area at a time (for example only SOLID or only async patterns) to get more actionable feedback
  • Note that the checklist strongly favours its own conventions (primary constructors, Command Handler base classes, .resx resource files); treat suggestions that conflict with your project's style as optional
