What it does

This skill teaches an AI assistant how to pass a piece of work to an agent that already exists in a Paperclip team. The assistant first checks which person, company, agents and projects are involved, asks the user to resolve any unclear assignee or scope, then creates a task with a clear objective, context and expected output. It returns a task ID and link and later checks progress without constantly polling, so the work can continue after the chat ends.

Great for

  • Team leads who run multiple AI agents in Paperclip and want to assign work from a chat assistant
  • Developers using Paperclip who want reliable, retry-safe task creation
  • Operators who need a traceable record of delegated AI work

Skip it if

  • Simple one-off questions the assistant can answer directly, since delegation can start paid autonomous agent work using the team's execution budget
  • Users without a configured Paperclip team, because the skill does not create teams or supply model credentials and delegation will fail or do nothing useful

Try asking

  • “Delegate a competitor pricing analysis to our research agent in Paperclip”
  • “Assign the login bug investigation to the engineering agent and give me the task link”
  • “Check on the task we delegated yesterday to the marketing agent”
  • “Send the quarterly report draft to the writing agent with the constraints we discussed”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Delegate Work to Paperclip AgentsInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    delegate-work.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip delegate-work.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip delegate-work.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Be specific about the desired deliverable and constraints so the agent's task is clear and does not need rework.
  • Check Paperclip's UI for agent status and budget before delegating expensive work.
  • If a delegation seems to have failed, ask the assistant to inspect existing tasks rather than resubmitting, to avoid duplicates.
