What it does

When a sales team asks for a discount above the rep's authority or a customer returns a redlined contract, this skill makes the agent quantify the deal (post-discount margin, payment-term shape, indemnity exposure), score it 0-100 with a verdict (APPROVE, REVIEW, ESCALATE or DECLINE), name the approver chain that must sign off, and list contract clauses to push back on with suggested counter-language. It never approves anything itself; every output is a recommendation to a named person such as a Sales Director, VP Sales, CFO, CRO or General Counsel.

Great for

  • Revenue operations or deal desk staff reviewing inbound discount requests before close
  • Sales leaders who want a consistent, documented approval routing rule
  • Founders at small SaaS companies triaging a customer's redlined MSA before sending it to counsel

Skip it if

  • Drafting proposals or contracts from scratch, since the skill only reviews deals and terms (use a contract-and-proposal writing skill instead)
  • Final legal review of full contract prose; the terms scanner works on a structured JSON summary, not the contract text, and the skill itself says it is no substitute for General Counsel review
  • Setting your real discount policy: the built-in bands are generic industry defaults and should be overridden with your own matrix, otherwise routing may be wrong for your business

Try asking

  • “Score this deal: ARR 240k, 32% discount, 75-day payment terms, enterprise tier, and tell me who needs to approve it.”
  • “The customer redlined our MSA with uncapped indemnity and an MFN clause. Triage the landmines and suggest counter-language.”
  • “Route a 22% discount request on a $60k SMB deal and estimate approval cycle days.”

  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip deal-desk.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip deal-desk.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

Get better results

  • Fill in the intake template completely before running the scripts; missing fields like indemnity cap or DPA status change the risk score and landmine results.
  • Pass your company's documented discount matrix via policy_thresholds so routing reflects your actual approval rules rather than the generic defaults.
  • Treat a DECLINE or ESCALATE verdict as a prompt for human discussion, and always have the named approver confirm before acting; a high score does not override critical landmines.
