Create GitHub Feature Issue from Spec
Turns a specification file into a single, de-duplicated GitHub feature request issue

What it does
When you point the agent at a specification file, it reads the file, pulls out the requirements, and checks GitHub for existing issues that might already cover the same feature. If none exist, it creates one new feature-request issue summarizing the problem, proposed solution and context, using the repository's feature_request template where available. If a matching issue exists, it updates that one instead of creating a duplicate.
Great for
- Maintainers or product engineers who write specs in files and want them tracked as GitHub issues
- Teams that use a feature_request.yml issue template and want consistent issue formatting
- Anyone who wants to avoid filing duplicate feature requests
Skip it if
- Projects that do not use GitHub Issues, since the skill only works with GitHub's issue tools (the reason: it has no other destination)
- Specs containing confidential or unreleased product details when the target repository is public (the reason: the issue content is posted publicly on GitHub)
Try asking
- “Create a GitHub issue from the specification at docs/specs/export-csv.md”
- “Check whether this spec already has an open issue and update it if so”
- “Turn this feature specification into a feature request using the feature_request template”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Open the specification file or name its path so the ${file} placeholder resolves to the right document
- Review the drafted title and body before the issue is created, since it becomes public on GitHub
- Keep specs focused on one feature so the skill produces a single clean issue
