What it does
Once installed, the agent acts as an interactive tutor for GitHub Copilot CLI, a terminal assistant. It asks whether you are a developer or non-developer, then walks you through short lessons in order, tracking your progress in a small local database table. It also answers questions such as what a slash command does, and resets the tutorial if you ask it to start over.
Great for
- People new to GitHub Copilot CLI who want guided, step-by-step learning
- Non-developers such as PMs, writers or designers curious about the terminal
- Teams running onboarding sessions for Copilot CLI
Skip it if
- Experienced Copilot CLI users who only need reference docs (the lessons are slow for them)
- Anyone using a different AI tool, since the skill depends on Copilot CLI-specific tools and will not work elsewhere
Try asking
- “Start tutorial”
- “I have a question: what does /plan do?”
- “Switch track, I'm actually a developer”
- “Reset tutorial and start over”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Say "start tutorial" to begin, or ask a specific question at any time.
- If you are stuck on the setup check, follow the troubleshooting steps the tutor gives you, such as logging out and back in with the copilot CLI.
- Progress is stored in a local SQL table, so use "reset tutorial" if you want a clean start.
