What it does

Once installed, the agent can help a sales leader design the written rules for how much a company may discount off list price, who approves each level, and how unusual exceptions are handled. It uses three bundled Python scripts to build a discount grid from past deal data, route exception requests with required compensating commitments, and lint the grid for contradictions, cliff edges and gaps. It is for setting policy, not approving an individual deal.

Great for

  • Heads of Commercial or Deal Desk writing a company's first formal discount policy
  • RevOps teams rebuilding a discount matrix that has drifted or been overtaken by precedent
  • Finance or exec teams who need a data-backed rationale for discount levels

Skip it if

  • Approving a specific deal, since the skill says that belongs to a separate deal-desk skill; using it per-deal would misapply policy
  • Setting list prices or choosing a pricing model, which the skill explicitly leaves to another skill; the matrix assumes those already exist
  • Anyone without real closed-won and closed-lost deal data, because the matrix bands and win-rate figures would be unsupported

Try asking

  • “Build a 4-dimension discount matrix from our last four quarters of closed deals using the saas profile”
  • “Lint this discount matrix for approver inversions, cliff edges and thin data before we publish it to AEs”
  • “Route a 42% discount request on a 36-month, 320k ARR deal and show the required compensating commitments”
  • “Draft our quarterly commercial policy review checklist from the policy design template”

    commercial-policy.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip commercial-policy.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip commercial-policy.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Review the scripts before running them on real CRM exports, since they execute locally on your data; start with --sample to see expected inputs and outputs
  • Treat the output as a draft: the skill says the matrix is data-backed but not data-driven, so the CFO and CRO should set the margin floor and band caps
  • Resolve every BLOCKER finding from the linter before publishing the matrix to sales reps
