What it does

This skill runs a guided setup interview for the litigation plugin. It asks whether you are in-house, a firm associate, or a solo practitioner, and whether you mostly represent plaintiffs, defendants, or both. It then captures your risk approach, case landscape and writing style, and saves them as a practice profile file (CLAUDE.md) in a fixed folder on your computer. Other litigation skills read that file so they do not have to ask the same questions every time.

Great for

  • Lawyers or legal teams setting up the litigation plugin for the first time
  • Users who want to update or redo their practice profile, or re-check which connected tools are working

Skip it if

  • Anyone wanting legal advice on a specific case, since this only collects setup preferences
  • Users who do not want a personal practice profile written to disk, because the skill saves document content and preferences to a local file in their home folder

Try asking

  • “Set up my litigation practice profile for the first time”
  • “Redo my practice profile, I've changed from firm associate to solo”
  • “Re-check which of my document and email integrations are connected”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    cold-start-interview.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip cold-start-interview.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip cold-start-interview.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Have a sample brief or house style document ready, since the skill suggests sharing seed documents to sharpen later results
  • Answer honestly about gaps in your risk framework; the skill can leave placeholders to fill in later
  • Use --check-integrations only after connecting a new tool, and expect connectors to show as untested until a real call succeeds
