What it does

When a new AI law or guidance appears, this skill has the agent check whether it applies to your organization, pull out its requirements, and compare them with your existing AI governance records (use case registry, vendor positions, policy commitments, impact assessment practices). The output is a list of gaps ranked as must-do, should-do, already compliant, or accepted, with an effort estimate for each and a dated markdown document saved for your file. It is written for legal and compliance teams, and it tells them when a regulation is ambiguous rather than presenting uncertain points as settled.

Great for

  • In-house legal or compliance staff tracking AI regulations such as the EU AI Act or state AI laws
  • Teams that already maintain a CLAUDE.md file with a use case registry and policy records for the plugin to read
  • Lawyers who want a first-pass gap list to review and then verify themselves

Skip it if

  • Final legal advice: the skill's output is a draft that needs review by a qualified lawyer, and it relies on the agent's own research of current law, which may be out of date or wrong
  • Organizations without a populated governance configuration file, since the analysis depends on that file for the current-state comparison
  • Non-legal users who want a definitive answer on whether they are compliant, because the skill can misjudge scope or deadlines

Try asking

  • “New reg just dropped: does the Colorado AI Act affect us?”
  • “Gap analysis for EU AI Act high-risk provisions”
  • “Compliance check against the FTC's AI enforcement policy”
  • “Here is the text of a new state AI bill, what do we need to change?”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Regulatory Gap AnalysisInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    reg-gap-analysis.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip reg-gap-analysis.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip reg-gap-analysis.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Populate the CLAUDE.md configuration first, since the skill reports missing sections rather than guessing at your current state.
  • Paste the regulatory text directly or attach the document so the agent works from the primary source instead of a summary.
  • Have counsel independently verify the citations, effective dates, and any items the skill flags as ambiguous before acting on the plan.
