What it does
This is the first-run setup for an employment-law assistant. It asks which states and countries you have employees in, how you handle hiring, terminations and severance, and then reads your employee handbook and sample termination memos to build an escalation table that flags issues differently depending on the jurisdiction. It saves the result as a plain-text config file that the other employment-law commands read each time. It can also re-check which connected tools actually work.
Great for
- Employment or HR legal staff setting up the claude-for-legal employment plugin for the first time
- Teams that want jurisdiction-specific termination and escalation flags instead of generic advice
- Users who need to re-run setup for one section, such as integrations, using --redo or --check-integrations
Skip it if
- People who are not handling employment matters; the skill itself says to use a different hub skill instead
- Anyone expecting legal advice: the output is a configuration profile that still needs review by qualified counsel, and default settings may not fit your organisation until tuned
- Users who do not want their company documents read and summarised into a config file
Try asking
- “Set up the employment-legal plugin for my company, which has employees in California, Texas and Ontario”
- “Run the cold-start interview again but only check which integrations are connected”
- “Read our handbook and last three termination memos and build the escalation table”
- “Resume my unfinished employment-legal setup from where it paused”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Answer the jurisdiction questions carefully, since the escalation table depends on them; treat the [DEFAULT] values as starting points to tune rather than settled policy
- Use --check-integrations after connecting tools, and trust only ✓ marks, which appear only after a successful test call rather than from config declarations alone
- If you install at project scope, move your handbook and memo files into that folder or reinstall at user scope so the skill can read them
