What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent how to set up and operate Google Cloud Network Insights, a synthetic monitoring service built with Broadcom AppNeta that tests network and web paths from machines called Monitoring Points. Once installed, the agent can enable the needed Google Cloud API, create and check the monitoring provider, guide deployment of Monitoring Points, configure network and web monitoring policies, and list the resulting paths and monitoring points using gcloud commands. The skill is a set of instructions and reference documents; it is not a standalone tool.

Great for

  • Cloud or network engineers enabling Cloud Network Insights in a Google Cloud project
  • Teams deploying Monitoring Points across Google Cloud, on-premises, AWS, Azure, VMware or KVM environments
  • Operators who want an agent to check provider state and list monitoring paths quickly

Skip it if

  • General network troubleshooting or VPC Flow Logs analysis, which the skill explicitly excludes
  • Cloud NAT or VPC firewall debugging, which the skill explicitly says it does not cover
  • Users without an existing Google Cloud project and permissions, since the commands will fail and alarm rules must be set in the AppNeta web UI anyway

Try asking

  • “Enable the Cloud Network Insights API in my project and create the provider”
  • “Check whether my Cloud Network Insights provider state is ACTIVE”
  • “List all network paths and web paths for my monitoring provider”
  • “Help me deploy a Monitoring Point on an AWS EC2 instance”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 4 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    cloud-network-insights.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip cloud-network-insights.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip cloud-network-insights.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Tell the agent your target environment up front, since the skill asks you to choose a deployment type rather than assuming one
  • Review any gcloud command before the agent runs it, especially create and delete operations, because they change live cloud resources
  • Keep AppNeta credentials out of chat and use a secure secret store, since policy configuration requires authentication tokens
