What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to use a command-line tool that edits OBS Studio scene collections, the saved layouts of scenes, sources, filters, audio and output settings used for streaming and recording. The agent can create, inspect and change these project files through commands instead of clicking through the OBS interface. Edits are stored in a JSON file, and the tool supports undo and redo, with the agent able to request machine-readable output.
Great for
- Creators who want to script or batch-edit OBS scene layouts
- Developers building automated broadcast or recording setups
- Users who want an AI agent to draft a scene collection they can review in OBS later
Skip it if
- Live streaming control: the documentation describes editing JSON project files, not controlling a running OBS instance, so it may not change what is on air
- Overwriting an important scene collection without a backup, since saves write directly to the JSON file
Try asking
- “Create a new OBS project file with two scenes and a webcam source”
- “Set the volume of the microphone audio source to 0.8 and mute the desktop audio”
- “Add a color correction filter to the camera source in the Main scene”
- “Show me the current output recording settings in JSON format”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Back up your scene collection file before letting the agent save changes over it
- Ask the agent to use --json output so it can parse results reliably
- Open the generated JSON in OBS or check the result yourself before using it on a live broadcast
