What it does

When installed, the agent researches a product, market, or named competitors and produces a seller-ready competitive brief. It separates verified facts from field signals and inference, and by default creates a self-contained HTML document plus a short chat summary. It can pull from user-supplied notes and, when connected, CRM, meeting transcripts, and internal messages, and it uses public official sources to check current competitor claims.

Great for

  • Sales teams preparing battlecards or objection handling for a deal
  • Product marketers comparing their offering against named vendors
  • Account executives who need defensive prep for a specific account

Skip it if

  • Legal or investment decisions that need verified, audited due diligence, because the brief relies on public sources and inference
  • Situations where confidential CRM or deal data should not be reached by an AI agent, since connected sources may be accessed

Try asking

  • “Build a competitive brief comparing our analytics platform against Competitor A and Competitor B”
  • “Create a battlecard for objections about pricing when a prospect mentions Vendor X”
  • “Give me a market landscape view of invoicing software for small agencies”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Build Competitive BriefInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 5 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    build-competitive-brief.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip build-competitive-brief.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip build-competitive-brief.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Name the seller, competitors, and account explicitly so the agent does not need to guess and ask follow-up questions
  • Provide your own battlecards, notes, or transcripts; the skill ranks these above generic web research
  • Check the cited links before using claims with customers, since public sources can be outdated
