What it does

Once installed, the agent helps a product team choose low-effort ways to test a feature idea before building it fully. For each assumption it proposes an experiment such as a prototype test, fake door test, technical spike, A/B test, or Wizard of Oz test, and lays out the assumption, the experiment, the metric, and the success threshold. It emphasises measuring real behaviour rather than opinions and managing risk when testing on live users.

Great for

  • Product managers planning feature validation
  • Product teams deciding what to test before committing engineering time
  • Founders or designers who want a structured experiment plan

Skip it if

  • Tasks that need actual data analysis or running the tests themselves, since the skill only produces a plan (it does not run A/B tests or collect metrics)
  • Teams wanting guaranteed statistical rigour; the output is a generic methodology suggestion and should be reviewed by someone experienced in experiment design

Try asking

  • “Design experiments to validate an idea for a new onboarding checklist in our existing app”
  • “What cheap tests could we run to check whether users want a dark mode feature?”
  • “Plan an A/B test and a fake door test for a new pricing page, including risk mitigation”
  • “Brainstorm technical spikes and prototype tests for our proposed in-app search redesign”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Brainstorm Product ExperimentsInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    brainstorm-experiments-existing.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip brainstorm-experiments-existing.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip brainstorm-experiments-existing.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Describe your feature idea and the specific assumptions you want to test, so the agent can map an experiment to each one.
  • Attach any PRDs, assumption lists or designs you have, since the skill reads provided files first.
  • Ask the agent to save the plan as markdown if you want to share it with your team.
