What it does

When installed, the agent stops taking your first rough request at face value and instead asks you targeted questions about scope, deliverables, constraints and success criteria. It can look through your project to understand context, then produces a well-organised markdown prompt, places it on your system clipboard via the VS Code Joyride extension, and shows it in the chat so you can request changes. It is designed to improve prompts, not to write code.

Great for

  • Developers who want a clearer brief before asking an agent to build something
  • Anyone who tends to give vague requests and wants a structured prompt to reuse
  • Teams standardising how task descriptions are written

Skip it if

  • People who do not use VS Code, since the clipboard step depends on the Joyride extension and will not work without it
  • Users who want the agent to write or change code right away, because this skill explicitly forbids writing code
  • Situations needing a quick one-line answer, as the interview process adds several rounds of questions

Try asking

  • “Help me turn my idea for a CSV import feature into a detailed prompt I can give another agent”
  • “Interview me about my migration plan and produce a structured markdown brief on the clipboard”
  • “Refine this rough request for a bug report template and ask me what I want changed”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Boost PromptInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    boost-prompt.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip boost-prompt.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip boost-prompt.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Answer the agent's clarifying questions in detail, since the quality of the final prompt depends on your answers
  • Ask for specific revisions after the prompt appears, and check the clipboard contents before pasting elsewhere
  • Note that the SKILL.md itself includes a Clojure snippet the agent is instructed to run through Joyride, so review what it executes if you are cautious
