What it does
When installed, the agent reviews your AWS infrastructure-as-code files (Terraform, CloudFormation, SAM or CDK) and, where possible, your live AWS setup, checking them against the AWS Well-Architected Framework's six pillars: operational excellence, security, reliability, performance, cost and sustainability. It classifies each gap as high, medium or low risk, shows you a summary and asks for confirmation, then can create one GitHub issue per finding plus a single tracking epic issue.
Great for
- Engineers preparing an AWS workload for production or a architecture review
- Teams that want a checklist-style audit of IaC before a security or cost review
- Developers who already keep infrastructure in a Git repository and use GitHub issues for tracking
Skip it if
- Projects with no AWS infrastructure code, since the workflow is built around IaC files; the skill says to limit the review to live resources in that case
- Anyone who cannot review the proposed issues before they are created, because it asks for confirmation but creates many issues in one step once approved and runs AWS CLI commands against the account
- Non-AWS clouds (Azure, GCP), which the checks do not cover
Try asking
- “Run a Well-Architected review of this repo's Terraform and summarise the high-risk findings”
- “Review our CDK stack against the security and reliability pillars and draft GitHub issues for each gap”
- “Check our CloudFormation templates for cost optimisation opportunities like gp2 to gp3 and VPC endpoints”
- “Create a Well-Architected epic issue listing all findings across the six pillars”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Review the proposed findings list at the confirmation step carefully before answering yes, since approval creates real GitHub issues
- Use read-only AWS credentials so the review can inspect resources without any ability to change them
- Point the agent at a specific repository or directory so it analyses the intended IaC rather than unrelated files
