What it does

When this skill is installed, the agent knows how to convert raw art into the exact size, frame layout, orientation, transparency, palette and file format a game expects. It runs the project's own 'um' command-line tool to cut out backgrounds, fit sprites to frame sizes, pixelate art, build sprite sheets, add player-colour masks, make seamless textures, and render a 3D model into sprite frames from a game-style camera using Blender. It also tells the agent to check the game's existing assets first and to test converted files in the game before shipping.

Great for

  • Indie or modding game developers who need sprites or sprite sheets in a specific engine format
  • Artists turning AI-generated images into usable game frames or icons
  • Modders building asset packs for classic RTS or platformer games

Skip it if

  • People who only want a single picture generated, since it converts and packs assets rather than creating art from scratch
  • Anyone converting another game's copyrighted Unity assets without permission: section 6 covers reading a user's own install into a private resource pack, and the skill says the output must never be shared
  • Users without Blender or the 'um' tool installed, since the commands will fail

Try asking

  • “Cut the background off this generated unit image and fit it into a 64x64 sprite frame with the bottom edge aligned”
  • “Render my 3D unit model into 16 isometric facings for an RTS game and pack them into a sprite sheet”
  • “Make a 3-frame idle bobbing animation from this sprite and convert it to a vertical strip”
  • “Turn this painted art into 32x32 pixel art with a 16-colour palette and a dark outline”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Game Asset PipelineInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    asset-pipeline.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip asset-pipeline.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip asset-pipeline.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Open a stock asset from the target game first and note its frame size, orientation and pivot so the converted files match.
  • Use the preview command and look at the result before putting files into the game, then confirm scale and facing in-game.
  • Keep source files in a folder such as assets/gen/ and batch-convert with a script so the pipeline can be rerun.
