What it does

Once installed, the agent walks through a structured workflow for building Google Cloud infrastructure: it drafts Terraform configuration locally, validates it with the Terraform CLI, runs a best-practices plan scan using gcloud, imports the result into Google's Application Design Center registry, and helps deploy and troubleshoot it. It keeps credentials out of code and keeps Terraform state local until import. The bundled scripts help list and fetch Terraform templates from Google and private catalogs.

Great for

  • Engineers who already use Terraform and gcloud on Google Cloud and want a guided, repeatable design-to-deploy process
  • Platform teams standardizing GCP templates through Application Design Center
  • Users troubleshooting failed Terraform-based GCP deployments

Skip it if

  • Non-GCP clouds, since the skill is explicitly limited to GCP infrastructure (AWS or Azure work will not be covered)
  • Running deployments against production projects without reviewing the generated Terraform and gcloud commands first, because the agent executes commands that create real cloud resources and may incur cost
  • Users without gcloud access, a GCP project, and Terraform installed, since most steps will fail

Try asking

  • “Design a GCP Cloud Run service with a Cloud SQL database in us-central1 and validate it with Terraform”
  • “Run a best-practices plan assessment on my local tfplan for my GCP project”
  • “List the Application Design Center templates available in my project and fetch one”
  • “Troubleshoot why my ADC deployment failed with a permissions error”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Design and Deploy GCP Infrastructure with ADCInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    application-design-center-design-deploy.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip application-design-center-design-deploy.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip application-design-center-design-deploy.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Review the Terraform plan and generated HCL before approving the import or deploy steps, since these create real GCP resources.
  • Give the agent a specific project ID and location up front so it does not fall back to defaults.
  • Keep secrets in GCP Secret Manager rather than pasting them into prompts or tfvars files.
