Analyze Feature Requests

Sort and rank customer feature requests by theme, impact, effort, and risk

What it does

Once installed, the agent groups a list of customer feature requests into themes, checks how well each theme fits your product goals, and picks the top three to build. For each pick it explains the reasoning, suggests alternative solutions, lists risky assumptions, and proposes cheap ways to test them. It is also designed to steer the discussion toward customer problems rather than customer-proposed solutions, using the Opportunity Score idea from product management.

Great for

  • Product managers triaging a feature request backlog
  • Product teams preparing a prioritization discussion with stated goals
  • Founders sorting through customer feedback from spreadsheets or documents

Skip it if

  • Situations with no defined product goal, since the skill asks for one before ranking and results would be arbitrary
  • Final decisions on their own, because the scoring is judgment-based and needs team review; it does not use real usage or revenue data
  • Anyone expecting it to pull requests automatically from a tool like Jira or a support system, as the file only covers reading files the user provides

Try asking

  • “Here is our CSV of 200 feature requests from the last quarter. Our goal is to improve retention. Group them into themes and pick the top 3.”
  • “Analyze these customer support notes and tell me which underlying problems matter most.”
  • “Help me triage this backlog against our goal of enterprise growth, and suggest how to test the riskiest assumptions for the top features.”

  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip analyze-feature-requests.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip analyze-feature-requests.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • State your product goal and desired outcomes clearly at the start, since all prioritization is measured against them.
  • Provide the requests as a file (CSV or spreadsheet export) with any available detail on how many customers asked for each item.
  • Treat the Opportunity Score and top-3 ranking as a starting point for team discussion, and check the agent's assumptions about impact and effort against real data.
