What it does

When installed, the agent runs a structured six-question review of an AI system against the EU AI Act: whether it is a prohibited practice, whether it is high-risk, which conformity route applies, what role the company plays, whether transparency duties apply, and whether it is a general-purpose or systemic-risk model. Each verdict is tied to a specific Article, and the agent ends with a colour-coded readiness verdict, top three actions, and a list of points to send to a lawyer. It is a structured checklist, not a substitute for legal advice.

Great for

  • Compliance or product teams doing intake review before putting an AI system into the EU market
  • Privacy, risk or legal staff preparing an annual AI Act refresh
  • Developers who want a first-pass map of which EU AI Act obligations might apply

Skip it if

  • Final legal sign-off: the skill itself says novel cases such as GPAI threshold disputes or Article 5 boundary cases need outside counsel, and it cannot replace that review
  • Non-EU organisations with no EU market exposure, where the Act may not apply
  • Systems outside the EU AI Act's scope or where the user has not described the system accurately, since the verdict depends entirely on the inputs given

Try asking

  • “/compliance-os:ai-act-readiness customer-support-chatbot”
  • “Run the AI Act readiness check on our CV screening tool before we launch in Germany”
  • “Which EU AI Act transparency obligations apply to our deepfake voice feature?”
  • “Do we become a provider if we substantially modify a third-party model we deploy in the EU?”
Step-by-step guide: how to use EU AI Act Readiness CheckInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    ai-act-readiness.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip ai-act-readiness.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip ai-act-readiness.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent a precise description of the system, its intended use, its users and its outputs before running it, because the classification depends on those details
  • Treat any verdict flagged as a GPAI threshold or Article 5 boundary case as a prompt to involve legal counsel, not as a final answer
  • Check the script paths and install the referenced vendor scripts before relying on the workflow, since SKILL.md alone does not contain them
