How to use the Eastmoney China Market Data agent skill

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

The eastmoney skill teaches an AI agent where to find free, no-login Chinese stock market data run by Eastmoney (东方财富): fund flows, dragon-tiger lists, margin balances, block trades, shareholder counts, lock-up expiries, sector membership, broker reports, news, financial statements and simple market screens. This guide explains what an agent skill is, how to install this one, how to ask for its data, and where its limits are. After reading, you will be able to set it up in Claude and make data requests that the agent answers with the right tools.

Quick start

  1. 1Download the ZIP. Download the eastmoney skill ZIP from this page.
  2. 2Unzip into a skills folder. Place the eastmoney folder in ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or in a project's .claude/skills/ folder.
  3. 3Or upload in the Claude apps. Open Settings, go to Capabilities, then Skills, and upload the ZIP.
  4. 4Confirm the Vibe-Trading tools. Make sure the codebase is present, Python can import src.tools and backtest.loaders, and you run from agent/.
  5. 5Ask a plain question. Name a stock with its exchange suffix and ask for the data, such as a 30-day fund flow.
  6. 6Check the result. Look for the ok flag in the JSON envelope and read any per-symbol error before drawing conclusions.

What is an agent skill and what does this one do?

An agent skill is a folder of instructions and reference files that an AI agent reads when a task matches the skill's description. This skill is an index: it tells the agent which built-in Vibe-Trading tools to call for each kind of Eastmoney data, and where the endpoint details and example scripts are documented.

The skill does not fetch data by itself. The Vibe-Trading tools make the requests, and they return results in a JSON envelope with an ok flag. Covered areas include money flows into stocks, daily dragon-tiger seat rankings, margin financing, block trades, shareholder counts, lock-up share expiries, industry and concept sectors, broker research reports, financial news, A-share and Hong Kong financial statements, and market screens. US company financials are taken from SEC EDGAR instead.

  • Fund flow: main, super-large, large, medium and small order net inflows, daily history or intraday minutes
  • Dragon-tiger list: stocks on the board for a trading day and buy/sell seat rankings
  • Margin trading: daily financing and securities-lending balances for A-shares
  • Block trades: price, volume, premium or discount to close, and buying and selling branches
  • Screens and search: top N by change, volume, turnover, and name or code lookup

Install the skill in Claude

Download the skill ZIP from this page and unzip it. For a personal setup, place the eastmoney folder inside ~/.claude/skills/. For a single project, place it inside that project's .claude/skills/ folder.

If you use the Claude apps instead, open Settings, go to Capabilities, then Skills, and upload the ZIP there.

  • Personal: ~/.claude/skills/eastmoney/
  • Project: <your-project>/.claude/skills/eastmoney/
  • Claude apps: Settings → Capabilities → Skills → upload the ZIP
~/.claude/skills/eastmoney/SKILL.md

Set up the Vibe-Trading codebase the skill needs

The skill only points to tools. Those tools must exist in the Vibe-Trading codebase, and Python must be able to import the src.tools and backtest.loaders modules. Run your work from the agent/ directory of that codebase.

You need network access to Eastmoney endpoints. No API key or token is required. Request spacing defaults to 1.0 second and can be changed with the environment variable VIBE_TRADING_EASTMONEY_MIN_INTERVAL.

  • Vibe-Trading codebase with its built-in eastmoney tools
  • Python able to import src.tools and backtest.loaders, run from agent/
  • Network access to Eastmoney endpoints
  • Optional: VIBE_TRADING_EASTMONEY_MIN_INTERVAL (default 1.0 second)

Trigger the skill with natural requests

You do not need to name the skill. Ask about the data in plain language, and name the stock with a code that has an exchange suffix, such as 600519.SH for A-shares, 00700.HK for Hong Kong, or AAPL.US for US stocks. Name the date window when it matters.

Requests that fit the skill include asking about money flow, dragon-tiger appearances, margin balances, block trades, shareholder count changes, upcoming unlocks, sector membership, broker ratings, or a quick top-N screen.

  • "Show the 30-day main-force net inflow for 600519.SH and 00700.HK."
  • "Which stocks were on the dragon-tiger list on a given trading day, and who were the top buyers?"
  • "How has the shareholder count for 000001.SZ changed over the last reporting periods?"
  • "List A-share lock-up expiries in the next 30 days."

Run the example scripts

The skill ships example scripts you can read or run from the agent/ directory. The fund flow example covers money flow and sector linkage. The disclosure example covers dragon-tiger, block trades and margin trading. Use them as starting points for your own backtests or dashboards.

The direct call pattern uses the FundFlowTool class from src.tools.fund_flow_tool, passing codes, period and days. The shared client backtest.loaders.eastmoney_client resolves Eastmoney secids and makes rate-limited GET calls.

  • scripts/fund_flow_example.py: fund flow and sector linkage
  • scripts/disclosure_example.py: dragon-tiger, block trades, margin trading
  • scripts/fundamentals_example.py and scripts/screen_search_example.py are also listed
from src.tools.fund_flow_tool import FundFlowTool print(FundFlowTool().execute(codes=["600519.SH", "00700.HK"], period="daily", days=30))

Safety: scripts, network and rate limits

This skill runs scripts and uses the network. Eastmoney limits requests by source IP and can temporarily ban bursts. All tools pass through a shared per-host throttling layer. Do not bypass the tools by sending raw HTTP bursts to the endpoints; the skill explicitly warns against this.

Each symbol that fails is reported as its own error, so one bad code does not stop a batch. Because the endpoints are unofficial and free, they can change or block requests without notice.

  • Use the tools, not raw HTTP loops
  • Keep batches small and let the throttle space requests
  • Do not treat results as guaranteed or real-time

What people use it for

  • Comparing main-force net inflows across several A-shares and one Hong Kong stock over 30 days
  • Reviewing which seats bought and sold on a given dragon-tiger day
  • Tracking shareholder count changes across reporting periods as a holding signal
  • Listing upcoming lock-up expiries to study possible share supply
  • Pulling block trade prices relative to the close for a research notebook

Frequently asked questions

Is the eastmoney agent skill free?

The skill is listed under the MIT licence, and the Eastmoney endpoints it wraps require no API key or token. The source does not state pricing for Vibe-Trading or Claude beyond this, so check those products separately.

Do I need an API key to use it?

No. The source says the tools call Eastmoney directly without a token. You do need network access to Eastmoney endpoints and a Vibe-Trading codebase that contains the tools.

Where do I install the eastmoney skill?

Unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ for personal use or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder. In the Claude apps, upload the ZIP under Settings, Capabilities, Skills.

Why does the skill not work on its own?

The skill only indexes tools. The listed tools, such as get_fund_flow and get_dragon_tiger, must exist in the Vibe-Trading codebase, and Python must be able to import src.tools and backtest.loaders.

Why am I getting rate-limit or ban errors?

Eastmoney limits by source IP and temporarily bans bursts. Keep requests small, let the shared throttle space them, and check whether VIBE_TRADING_EASTMONEY_MIN_INTERVAL has been set to a value you changed. The default is 1.0 second.

How does it compare to a licensed market data feed?

The source describes these endpoints as unofficial, free and able to change or block requests without notice. They are suited to research and learning, not to guaranteed, real-time or licensed trading data.

Our verdict

Choose this skill if you are a quant researcher, student or developer working with A-share or Hong Kong stocks in Vibe-Trading and want flow and disclosure data without an API key. Pick a licensed or official data provider if you need guaranteed, real-time or contractually supported data, or if you plan heavy bulk scraping, which the skill itself warns against.
