How to use the Danish Job Search (Jobnet) agent skill

Updated · written with AI from the project's own documentation and checked against our catalogue data

The jobnet-search skill lets an AI agent look up current job openings on Jobnet.dk, Denmark's official public job portal run by STAR. It is for job seekers, recruiters and anyone who wants a quick list of Danish jobs filtered by keyword, region, postal code radius or contract type. After this guide you will know what an agent skill is, how to install this one, how to trigger it with plain requests and how to read the results.

Danish Job Search (Jobnet)ai-job-search-dev/ai-job-search · MIT

Quick start

  1. 1Get the skill. Download the ZIP from this page, or upload it under Settings, Capabilities, Skills in the Claude apps.
  2. 2Unzip into the right folder. Unzip into ~/.claude/skills/ for all projects, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder for one project. Keep the cli folder intact.
  3. 3Install the CLI dependencies. Open the cli folder inside .agents/skills/jobnet-search and run bun install. You need the Bun runtime installed first.
  4. 4Enable the skill. Run /setup for a Danish market, or set enabled: true in SKILL.md. The skill ships with enabled: false.
  5. 5Ask in plain language. Request Danish jobs in your own words, including the title, area and work hours you want.
  6. 6Open the details. Ask for the full ad of a result to see the description, contact persons, deadline and application link, then check them on the official ad.

What an agent skill is and what this one does

An agent skill is a folder of instructions and tools that an AI agent loads when a task matches the skill's description. This skill covers Danish job searching. Once it is installed, the agent can search Jobnet.dk by keyword, title or employer, and filter by region, work hours, employment duration and occupation.

It can also postal-code search within a radius, sort results and open the full ad. The full ad shows the description, contact persons, application deadline, employer details and a direct application link. The skill runs a small bundled command-line tool written in TypeScript that calls Jobnet's public API, so no login is needed.

Install the jobnet-search skill

Option 1: download the ZIP from this page and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ to make it available to you across projects, or into a project's .claude/skills/ folder to limit it to that project.

Option 2: in the Claude apps, open Settings, then Capabilities, then Skills, and upload the ZIP there.

The skill ships disabled by default (enabled: false in SKILL.md). Either run /setup, which enables it when your market is Denmark, or set enabled: true in SKILL.md yourself. The CLI also needs its dependencies installed, which the skill's own README describes as running bun install inside the cli folder.

  • Requires the Bun runtime, since the skill runs bun run on a TypeScript CLI.
  • Requires network access to the Jobnet.dk public API.
  • The project files must sit in .agents/skills/jobnet-search, including the cli folder with its dependencies.
cd .agents/skills/jobnet-search/cli bun install

Trigger the skill with natural requests

You do not need to type commands. Ask in plain language and the agent should pick the skill when your request is about Danish jobs. The skill's trigger list includes phrases such as danish jobs, jobnet.dk, job i danmark, stillinger i det offentlige, sygeplejerske job and ansøgningsfrist, so Danish and English requests both work.

Be specific about the things that matter to you: the job title or keyword, the area or postal code, full or part time, and whether you need permanent work. If you want an overview, say so and ask for a table.

  • Find nurse jobs in Denmark that are permanent and full time.
  • Show IT jobs within 30 km of postal code 8000 in Aarhus.
  • Which Jobnet ads for pædagog close soonest?
  • Get the full details and application link for this job ad.

Run searches directly and read the output

The agent runs the CLI for you, but you can also run it yourself from the project root. Searches are done with the search command. Use occupations or suggestions first if you are unsure of the exact Danish job title. Use detail with a jobAdId from the search results to get the full ad.

Regions are broad filters, such as Midtjylland or Syddanmark. For a location-based search, use a postal code with a radius, which defaults to 50 km. Do not combine --region and --postal-code in the same query. Order controls which ads come first: PublicationDate shows newest first, BestMatch ranks by relevance and ApplicationDate shows the earliest deadline first.

  • --format table is good for comparisons.
  • --format json is for data processing and passing IDs between commands.
  • --format plain is for single-job detail views and strips HTML from the description.
  • Errors are written to stderr as a JSON object with error and code fields, and the process exits with code 1.
bun run .agents/skills/jobnet-search/cli/src/cli.ts search --search-string "sygeplejerske" --work-hours FullTime --duration Permanent --order BestMatch --per-page 10 --format table bun run .agents/skills/jobnet-search/cli/src/cli.ts detail 9ef43bce-d82b-4ea1-a098-7ff6520f99be --format plain

Safety notes: scripts and network access

This skill runs scripts on your machine and uses the network. It executes a Bun/TypeScript CLI, and its allowed tool permission is limited to running bun run on that cli.ts file. It sends requests to the Jobnet.dk public API at jobnet.dk/bff and needs no credentials.

The skill does not verify job ads or employers. The tool returns what the API returns, so check important details, such as the employer and the deadline, on the official ad before you apply. If your environment does not allow local scripts, do not install this skill.

  • No login or personal data is needed for searching.
  • Use a separate project folder if you want to keep the skill out of other work.
  • The skill only works for Denmark-specific listings.

Tips for better results

Start broad, then narrow. Use suggestions to find the Danish job title that employers actually use, because many ads are written in Danish. Then add filters one at a time so you can see which one removes results.

For urgent applications, sort by ApplicationDate so the earliest deadlines appear first. For a shortlist, ask the agent for a table with --per-page set to a small number and then request detail on the best matches.

  • Use occupations to find ESCO identifiers; the numeric occupation-area and occupation-group codes are a different taxonomy and will not match an occupation UUID.
  • Use --limit to cap CLI output, and --page with --per-page to go through large result sets.
  • The skill description says the portal holds roughly 21,000 active jobs at any time; check current numbers on the site itself.

What people use it for

  • A healthcare worker lists permanent full-time nurse jobs nationwide, sorted by best match, in a table.
  • A job seeker finds pædagog jobs in Region Sjælland that close soonest, using ApplicationDate order.
  • An IT developer searches for udvikler roles within 30 km of postal code 8000.
  • A recruiter or Danish speaker compares several ads side by side in a table, then pulls full details for shortlisted ones.

Frequently asked questions

Is the jobnet-search skill free to use?

The skill is released under the MIT licence, as stated for the item. It needs no login or credentials to search Jobnet's public API. Check the repository licence file for the full terms.

What do I need to run the jobnet-search skill?

You need the Bun runtime, network access to the Jobnet.dk public API, and the project files in .agents/skills/jobnet-search including the cli folder with its dependencies. The skill also runs scripts, so local script execution must be allowed.

How do I install jobnet-search in Claude?

Download the ZIP and unzip it into ~/.claude/skills/ or a project's .claude/skills/ folder, or upload it in the Claude apps under Settings, Capabilities, Skills. Then enable it, since it ships with enabled: false.

Does the skill need a Jobnet login?

No. The skill uses the public Jobnet.dk API, and the README says public endpoints need only the x-csrf: 1 request header, with no credentials.

Why does the skill not find any jobs outside Denmark?

Jobnet is Denmark's government job portal and its listings are Denmark-specific, so the skill is for Danish employment only. Use a different job site for other countries.

The agent does not use the skill or returns no results. What should I check?

Confirm the skill is enabled, the Bun runtime is installed, bun install has been run in the cli folder, and the path .agents/skills/jobnet-search/cli/src/cli.ts exists from the project root. If the CLI fails, read the JSON error on stderr, which includes an error and a code field.

Our verdict

Use this skill if you want a fast, filtered list of Danish public and private job ads, especially in public sector, healthcare, education or IT, and you are comfortable running a local Bun script. Pick another tool if you are outside Denmark, need verified or guaranteed-complete job data, or are not allowed to run local scripts.
