About

Convert Unix epoch timestamps to dates and back in any time zone, auto-detecting seconds or milliseconds, with a live current epoch.

How to use it

  1. 1Copy the live current timestamp, or paste one into Timestamp → date.
  2. 2The unit (s, ms, µs, ns) is detected automatically — override it if needed.
  3. 3Choose a time zone to see the local date and ISO 8601 offset.
  4. 4Use Date → timestamp to turn a wall-clock time into an epoch.
You give
A Unix timestamp, or a date and time
You get
ISO 8601 (UTC and zoned), a human-readable date, RFC 2822, relative time and epoch seconds/ms
Good to know
Time zone rules come from your browser's built-in database. Ambiguous wall-clock times during a DST change resolve to the first occurrence. Supports roughly ±270,000 years, the JavaScript Date range.

FAQ

How does auto-detect know seconds from milliseconds?

By size: today's epoch is about 1.7 billion in seconds but 1.7 trillion in milliseconds. 10-digit numbers are treated as seconds, 13-digit as milliseconds.

Does Unix time include leap seconds?

No. Every Unix day is exactly 86,400 seconds, which is why it's simple to do arithmetic with.

What is the year 2038 problem?

Systems storing Unix seconds in a signed 32-bit integer overflow on 19 January 2038. Modern 64-bit timestamps, like JavaScript's, are unaffected.
