About

Split lines of text into CSV columns by delimiter, whitespace, regex or fixed widths, preview the table and download a correctly quoted CSV.

How to use it

  1. 1Paste lines of text (logs, copied tables, exports).
  2. 2Choose how to split each line: delimiter, whitespace, regex or fixed widths.
  3. 3Check the preview table.
  4. 4Pick the output separator and download the CSV.
You give
Lines of text where each line is one row
You get
A CSV (or TSV) file with proper quoting, plus a preview table
Good to know
Each input line becomes one row, so quoted values that span lines are not supported here — use the CSV tools for existing CSV files. Rows are padded to the widest row.

FAQ

How are commas and quotes inside cells handled?

Cells containing the separator, quotes, line breaks or leading/trailing spaces are wrapped in double quotes, and inner quotes are doubled, following RFC 4180.

How do I use regex capture groups?

Write a pattern that matches the whole line with a group per column, e.g. ^(\S+)\s+(\S+)\s+(.*)$. Each group becomes a column.

Which separator should I pick for Excel?

Comma works in most regions. If Excel puts everything in one column, choose semicolon — common in European locales.
