Good to know
Regex uses JavaScript syntax (no possessive quantifiers or inline flags). Searches stop after 1.5 seconds to protect against runaway patterns, and highlighting is capped at 10,000 matches.

FAQ

How do I use capture groups in the replacement?

Turn on Regular expression, wrap parts of the pattern in parentheses, then use $1, $2 (or $<name> for named groups) in the replacement. $& inserts the whole match.

Can I insert a line break?

Yes. With “\n \t in replacement” ticked, type \n for a new line or \t for a tab in the replacement box.

What if my regex freezes the page?

It can't: matching runs in a background worker and is stopped after 1.5 seconds with an explanation.
