About

A 5-step ChatGPT workflow for sourced research: scope the question, gather cited sources, stress-test the evidence, write a brief and fact-check every claim.

How to use it

  1. 1Enter your research question, the decision it supports and your scope.
  2. 2Run each step's prompt in ChatGPT (search on from step 2) and tick it off.
  3. 3Click sources as you go — the checks tell you what to verify.
  4. 4Export the workflow with your filled prompts as Markdown.
You give
A research question, purpose, audience, scope and depth.
You get
Five tailored prompts that produce a scoped plan, a source table, a critique, a cited brief and a verification table.
Good to know
This tool doesn't run an AI model: it builds expert prompts from your inputs for you to use in ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini (free or paid plans). “Open in” links put the prompt in the link to chatgpt.com / claude.ai and only appear for prompts under 2,000 characters; Gemini has no prefill link, so we copy the prompt for you. Inputs and progress are saved in this browser only. AI output can be wrong — each step includes a check.

FAQ

Do I need ChatGPT Plus or Deep Research?

No. Any version with web search works; Deep Research (where available) can run step 2 more thoroughly. The prompts also work in Claude or Gemini with search enabled.

How do I avoid fake citations?

Step 2 forbids invented URLs and asks for 'No source found' instead; step 5 re-checks every claim in a fresh chat with exact supporting quotes. Always click the sources behind decisions.

Is my information sent anywhere?

Not by this page. Your inputs are filled into the prompts in your browser and saved locally. Text only leaves your device when you click Open in ChatGPT/Claude (the prompt is in the link) or paste it into an AI app yourself — so follow your organisation's rules about what you share with AI tools.
