What it does

When installed, the agent edits your existing text to remove stock AI phrasing and over-polished tone while keeping your meaning, facts and voice intact. It handles Chinese and English prose, technical instructions, release notes, social posts and product copy, and loads matching style references for each. It also runs a punctuation checker on the output for Chinese/English mixing and punctuation errors.

Great for

  • Writers who want a draft to sound like themselves rather than a chatbot
  • Maintainers writing release notes or public replies on GitHub
  • Teams localizing product copy or checking bilingual Chinese/English text

Skip it if

  • Code comments or commit messages, which the skill explicitly excludes
  • Authors who want heavy rewriting for style; the skill deliberately limits edits to avoid over-editing their voice
  • Fact-checking: it preserves factual claims rather than verifying them

Try asking

  • “Remove the AI tone from this blog draft but keep my voice: [paste text]”
  • “Polish this Chinese release note for our changelog”
  • “Check this bilingual product page for translation drift between the EN and CN versions”
  • “Clarify these installation steps so a new user can follow them”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Write: Cut the AI TasteInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 14 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    write.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip write.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip write.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Paste the text directly or name the file in the repository so the agent edits in place rather than rewriting from scratch
  • State the target audience and surface (blog, RFC, email, tweet) so the agent picks the right style reference
  • If you are the author and want minimal changes, say so; the skill will then return a per-sentence list of every edit so you can veto each one
