What it does

When installed, the agent can turn a request like 'remind me to follow up on this' or 'run this every night' into a workflow definition file (a YAML file describing steps and triggers). It checks the file with the workflow command-line tool until it is valid, and can run, schedule, pause or chain workflows. It is part of the LifeOS personal automation system and is tied to that system's folder layout and commands.

Great for

  • LifeOS users who want the agent to build and manage their scheduled tasks and reminders
  • Developers who already run the LifeOS workflow engine and want definitions authored correctly
  • Anyone who wants validated automation definitions rather than hand-written YAML

Skip it if

  • People without the LifeOS workflow engine installed: the skill depends on the bun runtime and LIFEOS/WORKFLOWS files, so it will not work standalone.
  • Running workflows with paid model steps or deploy/send steps without reviewing them first: a run executes for real, can call OpenAI lanes that cost money, and can send messages or deploy.
  • Scheduled or reminder workflows on non-macOS machines: local schedules are evaluated by a launchd job, which requires macOS.

Try asking

  • “Create a workflow that checks my site every morning and texts me if it is down”
  • “Remind me to follow up with Sam on Friday”
  • “Link these two workflows so B runs after A finishes”
  • “Show me which workflows ran last night and why one failed”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Workflows Authoring SkillInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 9 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    Workflows.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip Workflows.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip Workflows.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run 'bun LIFEOS/WORKFLOWS/workflow.ts validate' or ask for a validation before trusting a definition; validate checks shape only, not behaviour.
  • Use scratch runs with LIFEOS_WORKFLOWS_DIR and LIFEOS_WORKFLOWS_LEDGER to test without touching your real workflows.
  • Review any step that deploys, sends or pays, and make sure it sits under a human approval step before running.
