What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to package a web effect you have already built (a canvas animation, shader, scroll effect, layout or hover interaction) into a reusable skill. The agent isolates the one mechanism that makes the effect work, separates it from the visual styling, records concrete numbers and common pitfalls, names the technology stack honestly, and builds a demo page that is checked in a browser before being described as working. It is a guide for writing skills, not a web effect itself.
Great for
- Front-end developers who want to reuse a clever animation or interaction across projects
- Design engineers documenting a tuned effect so others can reproduce it
- Teams maintaining a library of web-design skills who need consistent quality rules
Skip it if
- Turning an article or prompt pack into a skill; the SKILL.md itself says to use the article-prompts-to-skills skill for that
- Quick one-off visuals with no need for reuse, since the process adds significant overhead
Try asking
- “Turn my cursor ripple effect into a reusable web-technique skill with a demo page”
- “Package this canvas particle tumble as a skill and document its tuned constants”
- “Make a skill out of the scroll-scrubbed word reveal I built, with a verified demo”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip web-technique-to-skill.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip web-technique-to-skill.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Start from working code you have already built and verified, not from a written description of it.
- Ask the agent to name the single mechanism in one sentence first, and check that removing it breaks the effect.
- Expect the agent to also propose updates to the shared quality contract when it finds a missing rule; review those changes.
