What it does
When a context file that the agent loads every session (such as operational preferences or identity rules) grows too large, this skill walks a reduction pass. It first runs a deterministic cleanup script to remove stale entries, then proposes semantic merges, tightenings, or relocations that the user must approve one by one. It is instructed never to drop a distinct directive, and the trimmed result is committed to the right repository.
Great for
- Users of the LifeOS personal AI framework who maintain large always-loaded memory or preference files
- Developers who want a human-gated process for keeping agent context small without losing rules
Skip it if
- Code refactoring, which the skill explicitly excludes, because it only handles prose context files
- Audio or video trimming, which is out of scope (the description points to AudioEditor for audio), and prose cleanup like removing AI writing patterns
- Users without a LifeOS-style install or git-tracked context files, since the commit and path behaviour assumes that setup; applying it to important files without review risks losing directives
Try asking
- “/trim OPERATIONAL_PREFERENCES”
- “this file is too big, trim the context in CLAUDE.md”
- “fold the proposal inbox in my always-on memory files”
- “shrink DA_IDENTITY without losing any rules”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Review every proposed merge or relocation yourself; the coverage check only flags missing tokens, not changed meaning
- Commit or back up the file before trimming so the trim lands as its own reviewable commit
