What it does

When installed, the agent checks its drafts and edits against a set of rules meant to remove common signs of AI-generated writing, such as filler openers, needless adverbs, passive voice, dramatic fragments, and em dashes. It also scores text on directness, rhythm, trust, authenticity and density, and revises anything scoring below 35 out of 50. It points to reference files with phrase lists, structure patterns and before-and-after examples.

Great for

  • Writers who want blog posts, newsletters or essays to sound less like a chatbot produced them
  • Editors reviewing drafts for generic, formulaic phrasing
  • Anyone who wants a consistent style checklist applied to their writing

Skip it if

  • Content that must keep a specific required tone or legal wording, since the rules override style choices and can change meaning
  • Academic or technical writing where passive voice and certain structures are standard conventions
  • Expecting it to detect AI-written text; it only edits prose toward its rules

Try asking

  • “Edit this draft to remove AI writing patterns and filler: [paste text]”
  • “Review my blog post and score it on directness, rhythm, trust, authenticity and density”
  • “Rewrite this product announcement without em dashes or throat-clearing openers”
  • “Check this email for passive voice and vague declaratives”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Stop SlopInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    stop-slop.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip stop-slop.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip stop-slop.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent the full draft plus your audience and goal so it does not strip necessary context
  • Ask for the scorecard first, then a revision, so you can see which dimensions changed
  • Review rewrites yourself; mechanical rules can make sentences flat or alter meaning
