What it does
Once installed, the agent can act on your real Spotify account through a bundled command-line tool that talks to Spotify's Web API. It can search for tracks, follow or create playlists, add tracks, read what is playing, manage your library, and control playback such as skip or volume on an active device. It does not recommend music or generate songs; those are separate skills.
Great for
- Spotify users who want to manage playlists and playback by typing plain requests to their agent
- Developers who already run LifeOS or Claude Code and want a scriptable Spotify interface
- People on Spotify Free who only need search, playlists and library (playback control requires Premium)
Skip it if
- Anyone uncomfortable giving an agent write access to their music account, since it can modify playlists, library and playback
- Users who want music recommendations or song generation, which the skill explicitly excludes
- Setups where the three Spotify credentials cannot be stored in a local env file, since they are required and kept there
Try asking
- “Add this playlist link to my Spotify”
- “Make me a focus-music playlist and fill it with tracks”
- “What's playing on Spotify right now?”
- “Skip this song and set the volume to 30 percent”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Follow Setup.md once to create the Spotify developer app and run the auth command before asking for anything else
- If you get 401 errors, re-run the auth step described in Intents/Authorize.md rather than editing tokens by hand
- Give specific track or playlist IDs or links so the tool makes exact changes instead of guessing
