What it does
When installed, the agent can review other SKILL.md instruction files (the setup docs that teach an AI agent a capability) and check them against a style guide: correct metadata, clear triggers, logical sections, and clean decision tables. By default it only reports issues with proposed changes. It edits files only if you explicitly ask it to apply improvements, and it is designed to keep existing content rather than delete it.
Great for
- Developers maintaining a library of custom agent skills who want consistent structure
- Teams standardizing skills across a repository before sharing them
- People who want a second opinion on why a skill does not trigger reliably
Skip it if
- Creating a brand-new skill from scratch, since the file says to use skill-creator for that instead
- Non-technical users with no existing skill files to review, because there is nothing for it to act on
- Auto-applying changes to important skills without reviewing the audit first, since rewrites can alter author intent even though the rules try to prevent it
Try asking
- “Audit all my skills in this repo and report issues grouped by severity”
- “Check whether my deploy-helper SKILL.md has valid frontmatter and a clear trigger description”
- “Apply the safe fixes from your audit to the skills in the registry, then recommend a registry refresh”
- “Review my skill's body for content that should move into a references folder”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run it in audit-only mode first and read the report before asking for apply mode
- Keep a version control commit before applying changes so you can review or revert the edits
- Point it at a specific skill path rather than the whole library when you only need one result checked
