What it does
When installed, the agent gathers your research notes, drafts, and results, then sends them to a separate AI reviewer (by default a fresh Codex agent; Gemini, Grok, or Claude Code can be selected) that is instructed to act as a tough senior ML reviewer. The agent then answers the criticisms over several rounds, converges on claims and needed experiments, and saves the outcome as a review document with a claims matrix and prioritized TODO list.
Great for
- Researchers who want adversarial feedback on a paper draft or experimental results before submission
- Students preparing for a top-venue submission who want a mock review with scores
- Teams wanting a second model family to check their claims
Skip it if
- Confidential or unpublished work you do not want sent to third-party model providers, because the content is shared with the reviewer service (reason: data leaves your machine)
- Situations needing a truly independent cross-family review by default, since the default Codex reviewer is same-family and is recorded as provisional (reason: lower independence)
- Expecting a fully automatic verdict, since the reviewer's output still needs human judgement
Try asking
- “Review my research on this sparse attention method and tell me where the claims are weak”
- “Get external review of my draft paper and produce a mock NeurIPS review with scores”
- “Help me review these experimental results and build a results-to-claims matrix”
- “Get a critical review of my research ideas from a Gemini reviewer”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Point the reviewer at primary artifact and raw-result file paths so it can verify claims itself rather than trusting your summary
- Record the review independence and acceptance status, and treat same-family Codex reviews as provisional
- Use the optional composed-report directive only when you want the review folded into an existing report
