What it does
Once installed, when you ask the agent to read something aloud, it turns the article, file, pasted text, or its own latest write-up into a spoken script, sends it to the Fish Audio text-to-speech service, and plays the audio on your Mac while it generates the rest. You can pause, resume, check status, or stop the reading with simple commands. It requires a Fish Audio account and API key, plus a LifeOS configuration.
Great for
- Listeners who want long articles or their own write-ups read aloud in a chosen voice
- Mac users already running the LifeOS setup who want hands-free reading
- People who want playback to start within seconds even for long pieces
Skip it if
- Macs-free or Linux/Windows users, since playback relies on macOS afplay (the tool is not usable there for audio output)
- Content you do not want sent to a third-party service, because text and the voice clone are processed by Fish Audio over the network
- Scheduled or unattended jobs, which are deliberately silent by design
Try asking
- “ri”
- “/ri https://example.com/some-article”
- “read this file to me: ~/Documents/notes.md”
- “pause the read”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run the Setup.md steps first to create the Fish Audio key and choose a voice profile, then do a read-only check before reading long content.
- Ask the agent to write a spoken script rather than reading raw markdown; tables and headers read poorly.
- Remember a new read stops any running read, so there is no queue.
