What it does

Once installed, the agent can turn a research paper (LaTeX source or PDF) into a conference-style poster. It writes the poster as a single HTML/CSS file sized to the venue's print dimensions, pulls real figures from the paper, and checks the layout with automated measurements before any visual review. The final output is a print-ready PDF rendered through headless Chromium.

Great for

  • Researchers preparing a poster for ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR or a workshop
  • Students who need a poster that matches an official print size
  • People who already have a paper directory or PDF and want a poster draft quickly

Skip it if

  • Users who need a fully hand-designed poster with custom artwork, since the skill restricts design changes to a fixed set of tokens and components
  • Situations where the venue's current poster specification has not been checked, because the skill itself notes specs change yearly
  • Anyone wanting it to work without Playwright or Chromium installed, since the skill says it cannot emit a final PDF without them

Try asking

  • “Make an ICLR poster from this paper directory at 185x90 cm landscape”
  • “Turn my paper.pdf into a conference poster using the default slate-blue palette”
  • “Redo my research poster as a print-ready PDF with the real figures from the paper”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Paper Poster (HTML) GeneratorInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    paper-poster-html.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip paper-poster-html.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip paper-poster-html.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Provide the paper directory or PDF path and state the venue and canvas size explicitly, since the skill looks up the official spec live.
  • Expect checkpoints: the skill waits for your confirmation at each step and does not auto-proceed.
  • Check FIGURE_MANIFEST.json and GATE_REPORT.json in poster_html/ to verify figure provenance and gate results.
